Synopsis

12-year-old Adam, a determined self-proclaimed local lumberjack in the so-called Slovakian “hungry valley”, strives to break stereotypes and reveal his true identity in a community marked by differences and expectations.

The film participated in the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival and the Krakow Film Festival

Katarína Gramatová entered the world of film as an editor. Already during her studies of film editing at FAMU, she devoted herself to authorial work. For her short directorial debut Čerešně (2019), she won a special jury prize at the Zlín Film Festival. With her graduation film Dom Strom (2023), she made it to the top ten of the Future Frames: Generation NEXT of European Cinema competition. In the meantime, she is currently finishing her feature directorial debut with the working title Sľubujem, že sa budem mať dobre. In his work, she uses her editing skills and works with socially depressing themes using cinematic devices and subtle humour.
