Okabre is a multi-instrumental avant-garde Austrian collective from Linz, whose sonic work is characterized by a diverse range, which, in addition to musical performances, also extends into the format of audiovisual performances. The collective will join the festival programme with their original music for the silent film A Page of Madness (1926), produced by the Japanese film director Teinosuke Kinugasa.
The film is associated with the literary group Shinkankakuha, which in the pre-war period was dedicated to the search for a new perception and sought to overcome the naturalistic representation of the time. Immediately after filming, the filmstrip disappeared and was considered lost for 45 years before being discovered in the director’s warehouse in 1971.
